As a young girl I grew up in a household infused with art. My father was a commercial artist, as well as a fine artist. He painted landscapes, seascapes, wildlife and florals. My mother was a talented portrait artist and I was her primary model when she would sketch live at art shows. When I was young we traveled to many art shows and galleries in the Chicago area. I am one of six children.
My Art training came from the early exposure I had in my family and from the fine art classes I have taken over the years. I didn't develop a real passion for art until after my fathers death in 2004. I found great inspiration from my parents art work and have learned a great deal from studying the works of great Masters. I felt a calling to do further study and begin producing paintings. I have been influenced from accomplished artists such as: Baumgaertner, Kinstler, and Schmid. I am grateful that these artists are passing on their knowledge. They are great teachers and experts at their craft.
I came upon my art style quite naturally. Being raised by two professional artists, I was encouraged to draw and paint often and to paint things the way my eye interpreted them. The greatest gift an artist can possess is the gift of observation. The human eye sees things differently than a camera can record. When we observe objects in reality we do not see all the details at once. I try to accomplish a life like rendering and record how light is cast upon the subject matter. All my original art is hand produced and I prefer some painterly brushwork that creates movement and fluidity to the art work. I am attracted to art work with simple value massed composition and color harmony. Simple compositions and value patterns create a strong piece of art work. I like to keep a students attitude and always be open to learning.
I find the challenge of creating a quality portrait very exciting. I am a member of the Portrait Society of America and accept portrait commissions. I have lived in La Crosse Wisconsin for the past 26 years.
